Saffron is a food, not a medicine
Everything we sell is a culinary spice. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and no product we sell is intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Our journal summarises published clinical research on saffron because customers ask about it; where we describe a study we try to say how large it was, what dose it used and what it did and did not find. Those summaries are for information. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication (in particular antidepressants, blood thinners or blood pressure medicines) or have a medical condition, talk to your doctor before taking saffron in amounts beyond ordinary cooking.
Lab values describe quality
The ISO 3632 figures on our vials and the verify page measure colouring strength, bitterness, aroma, moisture and the absence of artificial dyes in a specific lot. They are quality measurements. They do not indicate any health effect, and they vary from lot to lot. See quality and testing for what each number means.
Origin and grade claims
Our saffron is bought at the field in the Pampore belt of Kashmir, from growers named on the vial, and is sold as Mongra (stigma only). We publish the lot code, harvest month and lab report so that these claims can be checked. We do not claim organic certification.
Prices, availability and third-party information
Prices are shown in the currency of the edition you are viewing and may change between seasons. Lots are small and may sell out. Where our articles quote prices, harvest figures or studies from other sources, we link to them; we are not responsible for the content of external sites.
